On April 09, 2025, Google released the following updates for ChromeOS via the Stable Channel as version 135. This release brings several new features including a battery longevity policy, the Fluoride Bluetooth stack to ChromeOS Flex, an external storage allowlist, image content search, Fast Pair for mice, and Mouse Keys.
ChromeOS policy for battery longevity
ChromeOS 135 introduces a new battery charge limit policy, DevicePowerBatteryChargingOptimization, offering more options to help extend the lifespan of Chromebooks. Administrators can set a maximum charge limit to minimize battery degradation and improve long-term reliability.
Android Bluetooth stack, Fluoride, on ChromeOS Flex
Following the rollout on ChromeOS devices starting in ChromeOS 122, the Android Bluetooth stack, Fluoride, is now being brought to ChromeOS Flex.
External Storage Allowlist Policy
A new ChromeOS policy, ExternalStorageAllowlist, allows administrators to specify devices exempt from external storage restrictions. This means administrators can restrict access to all external storage but still permit trusted devices to have read/write access.
Image Content Search
Users can now find their images by searching for the text within them directly from the Launcher, rather than relying solely on file names.
Fast Pair for compatible input devices
Fast Pair functionality is now available for compatible mice on ChromeOS. Users can bring a Fast Pair-compatible mouse close to their ChromeOS device and will be prompted to pair it with a single click.
Mouse Keys on ChromeOS
Mouse Keys is an accessibility feature that enables users to control their mouse pointer using the keyboard. This is particularly helpful for individuals who experience difficulty or pain when using a traditional mouse.
Upcoming deprecation of user-installed Chrome Apps
User-installed Chrome Apps will stop working as early as ChromeOS 139 (currently planned for stable release on August 19th). Starting in ChromeOS 135, a notification will be displayed to remind users of this upcoming deprecation.
